The Adoption Conversation Cards were created to help people have the conversations about adoption that do not always happen. The questions explore identity, family, race, belonging, loss, relationships, and other parts of adoption that can be difficult to talk about.

Who can use the cards?

Adoptees for personal reflection, journaling, or conversations with others.

Families to learn more about each other and open conversations that may be difficult to start.

Therapists and Social Workers to guide individual, family, or group conversations.

Adoption Professionals and Agencies for education, support groups, workshops, and work with adoptive families.

Educators and Support Groups to create conversations around adoption, identity, family, and belonging.

There is no single right way to use the cards. They were created to get people talking, listening, asking questions, and learning from one another.
